Today, while hiking up Buffalo Mtn. (Silverthorne), my friend, Sheila, stopped at ~12,000' as she heard a sound: 3 feet away was an adult female White-tailed Ptarmigan. We carefully got out our cameras, took some pics and after a few mintutes, 2 young birds appeared. Also had an American Pipit carrying food right at the summit. Finally, there were Mountain Goats, a billy, 2 nannies and 3 kids. Nice day!
