Hi all, Yesterday I posted a sighting of a three-toed woodpecker at Upper Maxwell Falls. Later, with a little prodding, I realized I did not explain where Upper Maxwell Falls is located. It is in far western Jefferson County, near the eastern border of Clear Creek and Park Counties. It is off South Brook Forest Road, past Cub Creek Park on the left side of the road as you are traveling from Evergreen. There is no sign there, only a long dirt parking area.
Other birds seen there yesterday by the Tuesday Birders included ruby-crowned kinglets (with 3 fledglings), hairy woodpeckers, a red-naped sapsucker, pine grosbeaks, red and white-breasted nuthatches, violet-green swallows, mountain chickadees, hermit thrushes, broad-tailed hummingbirds, a cordilleran flycatcher, and red crossbills.
