Today's (August 20th), Arkansas Valley Audubon Field trip to the Wet Mountain
Valley, Custer County found just over 100 species of birds.  The highlights
were two Northern Waterthrush below Lake DeWeese dam, and a flyby Peregrine
Falcon along the Brush Creek Road Loop in the afternoon.  There were some
shorebirds at Lake DeWeese in the morning, including Western, Least, Baird's,
and a Semipalmated Sandpiper.  Also, three Semipalmated Plovers, two Solitary
Sandpipers, a Wilson's Snipe, a few Wilson's Phalarope, and several Spotted
Sandpipers and Killdeer, for a 10 species of shorebird day.

Yesterday (August 19th), I saw a female plumaged Bullock's Oriole at 9,050 feet
in elevation in the Wet Mountains in Custer County.  I was able to get a couple
of photos of this bird.  Another highlight at this same elevation and location,
was a male Rose-breasted Grosbeak, that has been coming to a feeder from
Tuesday to Friday (August 16-19).  The bird was first found in late July.  Many
photos have been taken of this bird, and four people have seen it.
