I drove over to Holcim Wetlands Monday though didn't get there until 9:15
am. I saw a Green Heron fly up in the large cattail area looking at first
like a Least Bittern with it's similar small size and feet dangling as it
flies. Later one of two Denver area birders spotted something dark make a
quick flight in the large cattail area--I saw just a brief glimpse of a dark
bird which was likely the Green Heron. More birders arrived after 11 am and
I left shortly afterward. Other than an Osprey flying up then back down the
river corridor and the Green Heron, the only notable bird was a less than
shy Rock Wren (likely the same one that visited in the area in July)

I drove through the northeast side of Florence on my way home where I found
4 Plegadis ibis, a Solitary Sandpiper (they apparently are moving through
the Arkansas River valley right now) and a Least Sandpiper foraging in
flooded ag fields.
