Hello, Birders.

Each year, in the second week of September, something amazing happens at
Greenlee Preserve, Boulder County. At sunset, many thousands of Barn Swallows
go to roost in the dense cattails. It's an incredible sight and sound, with
many hundreds of swallows in the air, and many thousands jockeying for roosts
on the tall cattails. And it all happens very quickly. The great show gets
underway about 10 minutes before sunset, it's in full swing right around
sunset, it peaks 10-20 minutes after sunset, and then, suddenly, it's over.
Looks like local sunset is at 7:21 this evening, by the way.

Bring bug spray; the mosquitoes at Greenlee are horrific--the result of dumb
spraying earlier in the summer.

There are bats, too, with the Barn Swallows. If anybody knows what they are,
could you us know?
