Hi CObirders, It is my pleasure to announce that the CFO Board of Directors has elected Doug Faulkner as the new chair of the Colorado Bird Records Committee.
While we will all dearly miss Larry Semo, who served the Colorado birding community so well with verve, expertise, and enthusiasm, it is important that we move forward to continue the important work of the Colorado Bird Records Committee. Doug has served as a member of the CBRC for six years and as a non-voting Secretary since January 2011. He has recently published "Birds of Wyoming." He is also associate editor for 'Western Birds,' the journal of the Western Field Ornithologists. In addition, he has served CFO as a past editor of 'Colorado Birds.' He is a biologist with SWCA, a national environmental consulting firm, and he is currently a recognized authority on the effects of wind turbines on birds and bats. The Board has reached this decision after careful consideration, while recognizing the need to find a new chair as quickly as reasonably possible. The Board has consulted with many persons knowledgable in the functions of the CBRC, including past and present CBRC members, and others familiar with the expertise needed to chair a thoughtful, conservative, and successful birds records committee. The Board has examined all reasonable alternates and firmly concluded that Doug Faulkner is the best candidate. Please join me and the CFO Board in welcoming Doug Faulkner to this very important position!
