Hi All, Last evening we continued the saw-whet owl project here in Estes Park and caught 3 owls The first owl was a very young bird sex unknown This little one still had his/her baby feathers and was molting into its adults plumage The second owl was a 2 year old and the third was at least three years old.
We have caught 8 owls to this point, mostly young of the year. We had to take a week off from trapping due to the full moon. During a full moon, the owls can see the nets and subsequently evade them.
