This past week I found out that the white hummer that I reported on that had
been seen at a feeder near Salida at the end of August was still around and
coming to a neighbor's feeder. I drove up and got some good photos that I
have now posted to my Birds and Blooms
<http://birdsandnature.blogspot.com/>blog. It appears to meet
criteria (at that on the Cornell Univ website,
noting that there are different theories) for partial/incomplete/imperfect
albinism as it has white feathers, an apparent lack of pigment in bill,
feet, and legs but it's eye is (pigmented) dark. Steve Bouricius, whom I
contacted about this bird, did tell me that he once had a hummer that looked
all white but showed some color to feathers when in hand.
