I second Steve Brown's wish for cooler weather. We caugh 16 of our 29 birds
in the first run of the day; by 9:30 it was hot and quiet. By 10 a.m. we
had closed the nets in the sun.

Here's the rundown for the 22 new birds banded today (also had 7 recaps from
recent days):

Downy Woodpecker 1

Warbling Vireo 1

Black-capped Chickadee 2

Rock Wren 1

House Wren 1

Hermit Thrush 1

Orange-crowned Warbler 1

Common Yellowthroat 1

Wilson's Warbler 4

Chipping Sparrow 9

Open 6 days per week, weather permitting, through October 16. Next
scheduled day off is Friday, October 7.
