At approximately 0910 today, four and twenty (I think that number is real...they were on the ground and platform feeder) blackbirds (common grackles) passed through my yard, Centennial near Orchard and Colorado Blvd. They gobbled up seed for only about four minutes, left southbound in a flock, and were not seen again. First ones here since this past spring. This afternoon, around 5:45, as I was driving north on I-225, between Parker Road and Iliff, (Aurora/Arapahoe) a dark red-tail flew just above treetop level from west to east. I searched for kestrels, often on the wires about I-225 and Mississippi, but found none. HOWEVER, southbound twenty minutes later, I saw a falcon on the sign over the road at Iliff. Not a kestrel. A PRAIRIE FALCON.
