We had another slow week of banding in Grand Junction, and today was the first day that we caught no birds at all. Over the course of the week we did add several new species to our season list, which now includes: Wilson's Warbler, White-crowned Sparrow, Black-capped Chickadee, Bewick's Wren, Bushtit, Clay-colored Sparrow, Brewer's Sparrow, Lincoln's Sparrow, Blue Grosbeak, House Finch, Song Sparrow, and Orange-crowned Warbler. Our total number of individuals is 41 and species is 12. The weather has been balmy, with a brisk morning breeze that dies down by about eleven o'clock. Today was an exception to that norm, as we had almost no wind at all, which may have contributed to the low capture rate. We are supposed to get some rain this weekend, and we are hoping that that will improve our success next week.
