A flurry of activity early, then quiet as the heat set in. We did have plenty of birds for our many Saturday visitors - Audubon's Beginning Birder Class, RMBO Walk-a-Thon participants, and Ira and Tammy's Barr Lake Nature Walk visitors. Good to see so many people out!
Here's the day's 30 new birds: House Wren 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2 Hermit Thrush 1 Orange-crowned Warbler 3 Common Yellowthroat 1 Chipping Sparrow 15 Clay-colored Sparrow 1 Lincoln's Sparrow 1 White-crowned Sparrow (Gambel's) 3 Oregon Junco 1 Saw Steve's post about the Blue Jays banded at Chico...they taunted us late morning from the trees above the station, but never came down to the nets. Maybe tomorrow.. Open 6 days per week, weather permitting, through Oct. 16. Next closed day is Friday, Oct. 7.
