Greetings All,

Thanks to Loch for getting the Ish Reservoir scoters posted whilst I was in the
field; they were distinctly the highlight of my day.
All 4 scoters (3 SURF and 1 BLACK) swam together on the Boulder side of the
reservoir, not associating with the raft of Redhead, Gadwall, and such. All
were in female/imm plumage. Getting to Ish in the morning is definitely
beneficial, so the sun is to your back and the heatwaves minimal

Towards the end of the day, I was at Union Reservoir, and was surprised to bump
into a number of other birders. That was how I found out about the Pacific Loon
seen there today. Alas, we could find no loons of any stripe.

Today was quite birdy. Some of the higher counts include
nearly 500 Gadwall at Terry Lake (Boulder County)
3000 Common Grackles at Terry Lake
300 Eurasian Collared-Doves at Berthoud (try not to be toooo envious :o)
28 Pygmy Nuthatches along the eastern portion of Apple Valley Loop (near Lyons)
53 Horned Grebes at Union Reservoir
20 Red-breasted Mergansers (my first of the fall) at Terry Lake (This spot is
viewed from road, and evening viewing is a necessity)

I also had my first Bonaparte's Gull of the fall at Berthoud Lake/Reservoir

My only other "notable" sighting was a nice collection of juncos scattered
along Apple Valley Loop (again, on east side) with the following
13 Pink-sided
12 Gray-headed
7 Oregon
6 Slate-colored
2 "Cassiar's"
1 White-winged

Nice weather and lotsa birds = good day (and a couple rarities don't hurt)
Good Birding,
