Cobirders:
After a very cold start (31'F), it warmed up nicely at Clear Springs Ranch*
on Sunday 10/23-11.
We stayed busy until about 930a. We banded 24 new birds of 7 different
species.
The American Kestrel was new for this season for us.
We had 2 recaptures from earlier this Fall, plus one Gambel's White-crowned
Sparrow banded at CSR on 10/11/2008 as an After-Hatch Year sex male by wing
cord > 79mm.
That means that this bird is at least five years old!
Our list:
Ruby-crowned Kinglet, 1
Slate-colored Junco, 1
Gambel's White-crowned Sparrow, 12
Song Sparrow, 5
American Kestrel, 1
Spotted Towhee, 3
Unidentified Dark-eyed Junco (?Cassiar's), 1
Species 7
Plus Recaptures:
This Fall, Local: Gambel's White-crowned Sparrow 2.
Plus one Gambel's White-crowned Sparrow banded at CSR on 10/11/2008 as an
After-Hatch Year sex male by wing cord > 79mm.
Best wishes,
Dave
