Highlight species include: (* denotes that there is new information on this species in this report) White-winged Scoter (*lSedgwick) RED-THROATED LOON (Arapahoe, Pueblo) Pacific Loon (Boulder, Denver, Douglas/Jefferson, Pueblo) Red-necked Grebe (Arapahoe, *Boulder, Douglas/Jefferson, Pueblo) MEW GULL (Arapahoe, Douglas/Jefferson) PINE WARBLER (Pueblo) WORM-EATING WARBLER (*Fremont) Fox Sparrow (Bent) Swamp Sparrow (Bent) GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW (Jefferson) Rusty Blackbird (*Washington/Logan) MIGRATION NOTES: Into the state have flown Snow, Ross’s and Cackling Geese, Thayer’s and Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Harris’s Sparrows and Lapland Longspurs, which one might find in appropriate habitats in sites too numerous to mention. Arapahoe County: ---An ad MEW GULL was reported by Beltz on the logs at the marina at Cherry Creek SP on November 3. --Andrews reported a Red-necked Grebe at Cherry Creek SP on November 4. Bent County: --Duane Nelson found a "red” Fox Sparrow and 3 Swamp Sparrows on the N side of the RR tracks, N of CR FF.5 and 2 miles east of CR 13.5 on November 3. Boulder County: --Nick Moore spotted a tern at Boulder Reservoir on October 18, which Nunes confirmed is a juv ARCTIC TERN. It was last seen in October. Wish it well. --The birder who finds or relocates Hannah Floyd’s lost blue-and-red sock on or near the southwest side of McIntosh Reservoir will earn the eternal gratitude of its sock-less owner, Hannah Floyd. Denver County: --A Pacific Loon was reported by Tina Jones on Marston Reservoir on November 2. El Paso County: --A White-winged Scoter was reported by Peterson at Prospect Lake in Memorial Park on November 2. Directions: Take exit 141/Cimarron St from I-25, go east to where it "T"s with Wasatch. Turn Left/north and go 1 block to Costilla and turn right/east to Lake and Park. Douglas/Jefferson Counties: --At Chatfield State Park on October 30, Walbek reported a Pacific Loon, Red-necked Grebe and ad MEW GULL. The gull was on the sand-spit and the loon and grebe were viewed from the end of the sand-spit looking NE. The grebe and Pacific Loon were seen again on November 4. On October 31, Brown reported the Pacific Loon and MEW GULL remained visible from the sand-spit. Fremont County: --SeEtta Moss reported a cryptic Worm-eating Warbler on the Canon City Riverwalk, about 200 yards east of the McKenzie Avenue parking area on November 5. It was glimpsed again on November 6 in the morning and seen well after noon. Huerfano County: --A Harris's Sparrow visited the Nelder yard in La Veta on November 2. On November 3, a White-throated Sparrow joined the Harris's Sparrow in the Nelder yard. Contact pollyw...@gmail.com for more information. Jefferson County: --Henwood found a GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at Red Rocks Trading Post on November 3; it continued on November 4. Mesa County: --Arnold reported a White-winged Scoter at Vega SP on November 4. Pueblo County: --2 imm PINE WARBLERS (1m, 1f) were reported by Percival at Pueblo City Park on November 3. --At Pueblo Reservoir on November 3 & 4, Percival reported 1 Long-tailed Duck, 1 Red-throated Loon, 3 Pacific Loons, and 1 Red-necked Grebe. The f Long-tailed Duck was on the SE side, the Red-throated Loon was between the Sailboard Launching Area and the SE side, the Pacific Loons and Red-necked Grebe were off West Fishing Road. Washington/Logan --Mlodinow reported 2 Rusty Blackbirds from Prewitt Reservoir, among other birds. Multiple errors of omission and commission have been included in today’s report.
