This morning on my somewhat "regular" walk around the west side of Lon Hagler Reservoir, I saw a Varied Thrush in the low, dense branches of a big peach leaf willow along the irrigation ditch that borders the west and south sides of the reservoir. When Cheri Orwig and I went back about 9 a.m. to try to re-find the thrush, we were not successful. However, poking along the edge of the grasses in the ditch was a Virginia Rail. And finally we spied a Townsend's Solitaire in a small juniper gobbling up berries. These birds were spotted in the southwest corner of the reservoir. A pretty nice morning. Denise Bretting Denise A.
