The Bhutan trip is moving along well. The dates are April 10 to May 3. Bhutan is somewhat higher priced than most trips per day due to a government tax. Also, the number of visitors is limited to 15,000 and authorized local guides are required.
Bhutan is a rather unique travel destination. It possesses a temperate climate. We will visit a Buddhist Temple or Dhzong plus a brief stop at textile market. Bhutan has a species list of 606. There are no endemics but 311 species are best found in the Himalayan highlands of India, Nepal, Tibet and China. Nepal has the best although rustic access to the Himalayan highlands compared to India and Nepal. The forests of Bhutan are some of the most intact in the world. We will spend some nights in tented camps close to the road allowing us instant access to birding. We will use one of the best and most experienced native guides in Bhutan. Please contact me for itinerary, cost, species list or any other information or for questions. I have also prepared a set of recordings of over 200 species.
