To all, After finally seeing the Common Ground-Dove at the reported site in Sedgwick County near Julesberg, we decided to try to follow some of the birds that Nick Moore and his group reported on yesterday. At the Lion's Club pond just east of Holyoke off of Highway 6, we looked for, but did not find, the Rusty Blackbird. But as a nice surprise, we did find two COMMON REDPOLL working in the same ditch, just on the south side of the pond. Skipped the Holyoke cemetery, then went to the Haxtun Sewage Ponds, where the previously reported three Greater White Fronted Geese, one Snow Goose, and many Cackling Geese intermingled with Canada Geese, Mallards, and Canvasbacks. Off to Haxtun City Park, where mixed in with enough Robins to make Alfred Hitchcock nervous, the Northern Parula and Wood Thrush were able to be re-found in the crowd. Thanks to the couple from Glenwood who made sure we knew that the Thrush was still lurking about!
