I birded Florence River Park this morning where I found two Yellow-rumped
Warblers (likely overwintering birds) feeding with Cedar Waxwings in a
large deciduous tree that had shed most of it's leaves. I watched to see
what would Cedar Waxwings were finding it this tree and I saw them feeding
on apparently newly emerged buds. We have had an extremely warm fall
(forecast to hit 70 tomorrow after a run of 60's) so I guess these poor
trees have been fooled into thinking it's spring already. I presume these
buds will be killed off when we get another period of cold temps??

Also found a Black Phoebe in the wetland area of Florence River Park,
perching on cattails.

I stopped at Brush Hollow Reservoir near Penrose where the water level has
diminished quite a bit. Lots of common waterfowl but notable were several
Pintails, a species with significant conservation issues

I put a cool video about Pale-billed Woodpeckers on my Birds and
Nature blog<http://BirdsAndNature.blogspot.com>
