The bird was last reported on November 28 by Mlodinow. The exact address is 3904 S. Idalia St. Please respect private property. Boulder County: --2 Swamp Sparrows were reported by Floyd and the Great Boulder Caper at Walden Ponds on November 27. --1 Swamp Sparrow was reported by Floyd and the Great Boulder Caper at McIntosh Lake in Longmont on November 27. Denver County: --A female type Long-Tailed Duck was reported by Wuerthele at Duck Lake in City Park on November 22. -A White-throated Sparrow was reported by Evans visiting her backyard in Denver for 3 weeks on November 30. Birders are welcome to try to see the bird. The address is 1480 S. Jasmine Way. Walk through the breezeway to the patio. Please stay on the patio and look under trees in back. It has been associating with Juncos. Douglas/Jefferson Counties: --At Chatfield State Park: --A POMARINE JAEGER (Juv. intermediate morph) was reported by Kellner on November 19 and was refound on November 30 by Komar. The bird has mostly been seen from the Handicapped Fisherman’s access point just NW of the marina. It has also been seen from the Heron Overlook. --A Glaucous Gull was reported by Kellner on November 19, 2 1st-cyc Glaucous Gull were reported by Kellner on November 26. On November 28, Mlodinow reported 1ad Glaucous Gull and 1 1-st cycl Glaucous Gull and 1 juv Thayer's Gull. A 2nd-cyc Glaucous Gull was reported by Komar on November 30. --2 Rusty Blackbirds (1M; 1F) were reported by Schmoker at the Plum Creek Delta (Douglas County side) on Nov. 22. They were refound by Brown on Nov. 29. They have been seen where Plum Creek enters the reservoir. They were working among the scattered brush piles and have been quite difficult to see. --A Winter Wren was reported by Kellner 1.3 miles upstream from Kingfisher Bridge between 2 gravel ponds on November 26. --2 "pale-bellied" BRANT were reported by Komar at Chatfield in the SW corner on November 30. Eagle County: --A TRUMPTER SWAN and Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Christopher Taylor at Spring Park Reservoir north of El Jebel on November 26. The swan was seen again on November 30 by Trappett. Fremont County: --A shy juv YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was reported by Moss at Centennial Park on November 27. Garfield County: --A Pacific Loon was reported by Art Dahl at Rifle Gap Reservoir on October 27 and seen again by Trappett on November 30. Huerfano County: --A Greater Roadrunner was reported by Nelder at Lathrop SP on November 26. --2 first year Harris's Sparrows and 1 White-throated Sparrow were reported by Nelder in her yard in LaVeta on November 27. Contact her at [email protected] for more information. Kit Carson County: --An AMERICAN WOODCOCK was reported by Murphy near 840 N 13th St, Burlington on November 28. It feeds on the lawns in the neighborhood. Murphy reported on December 1 that the WOODCOCK remains in the area. It likes to feed on the lawn at 847 N 13 St. Burlington had not had any significant snow. Larimer County: --4 TRUMPETER SWANS were reported by Mathews at Lake Estes on November 19 and most recently on November 26 by Waltman. Waltman reports that one of the swans has non-black legs and feet. --A COMMON REDPOLL was reported by Leatherman at Grandview Cemetery very late in the afternoon on Nov. 24. The bird preferred an area near one of the last patches of snow from the recent storms.If you come into the cemetery, cross the bridge over the ditch and turn south, the small snow pile is just north of the first big shrub (a persian-type lilac) you see on the west side of the ditch (which is just north of another little bridge crossing the ditch into the parking lot for the cemetery shop buildings.) On November 27, Leatherman reported 4 Common Redpolls in the SW quadrant of Section E of Grandview Cemetery. --A TRUMPETER SWAN (juv) was reported by Bol and Leatherman at Dixon Reservoir on November 19. It has moved and last reported on November 29 by Komar two miles north to College Lake. Unfortunately, there is restricted access to this lake. --A White-winged Dove was reported by Shenot at 210 Peterson Street in Fort Collins on November 26 to 28. He is willing to allow birders to try to see it but his house sits behind another on a deep lot and one would have to walk the sidewalk between 208 and 214 Peterson and may scare feeder birds. Please respect private property. --A Common Repoll was reported by Nelson on November 27 in Estes Park. It was on Lower Broadview about 30 ft below Mary's Lake Road. Logan County: --A Varied Thrush was reported by Kellner at Duck Creek SWA on November 28 --3 Common Redpoll were reported by Kellner along road going east of the the hunter checkstation south of Crook at Tamarack Ranch on November 28. Pueblo County: --Pueblo Reservoir: --A Great Black-backed Gull (adult) was reported by Percival at the south shore marina tires on November 16 and by Huffstater on November 26. --A Lesser Black-backed Gull (adult) was reported by Percival at the south shore marina tires on November 16; 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls (1 ad, 1 juv) were reported by Huffstater on November 26. --A 2nd-cyc Glaucous Gull was reported by Huffstater at the south shore marina on November 26. --An EASTERN TOWHEE was reported by Huffstater at Valco Ponds on November 26 and refound by Chartier on November 27. It was west of the parking lot. Go down the path heading west from the parking area, past the railroad tie bridge. It was in a small Russian Olive thicket on the left past the bridge. Chartier reported 7 Rusty Blackbirds at Valco Ponds on November 27. --A Red-necked Grebe was reported by Sanders and the DFO field trip at the SWA of Pueblo Reservoir on November 26. Sedgwick County: --At Jumbo Reservoir on November 28, Kellner reported 1 1st-cycle Lesser Black-backed Gull and 1 ad Glaucous Gull. --A COMMON GROUND-DOVE was reported by Mlodinow and Smart near Julesburg on November 12 and has been seen as recently as November 30 by Boswell. Directions: Take I-76 to US 385. Go N towards Julesburg. There are two bridges over the river. Between these, there is a road to the east and the the west. The road to the west leads to an area closed due to deer hunting. The road to the east leads to an island of land between the two parts of the river. it is mostly sandy soil with a few trees, much sparse grass, and a few dense bushes. There are several ponds and other areas where birds can drink. Weld County: --A BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER was reported by Leatherman on private property in Greeley on November 19 and was heard as recently as Nov. 26 by Mlodinow. The bird is foraging in the backyard of the home of Ruth and Milton Dick, 2125 15th Street. This address is at the junction of 15th STREET, and 22nd AVENUE about a block northwest of the Northern Colorado Medical Center near the UNC campus and not far from Glenmere Park. The bird is viewable from the alley on the north side of the house. The pines somewhat overtop the alley and if you park on 22nd or just into the alley e of 22nd Ave. at the northwest corner of their backyard, you may be able to view the bird from your car. It also comes down out of the pine trees and has been seen on several occasions in a grape vine heavily-laden with fruit growing on a low fence on the north side of the alley opposite the northeast corner of the Dick's back fence. This grape vine would also be viewable from a car parked in the alley just e of 22nd. Some of the pertinent neighbors on the north side of the alley north of the Dick's yard know about the bird and are reservedly OK with visitors. Visitors should be respectful of all concerned in this neighborhood, not go in any backyards, not block the alley, or not block access to parking from the alley by these neighbors to the north. --A Long-tailed Duck (juv) was reported by Leatherman at Union Reservoir on November 25 and seen again on November 26 by Mlodinow. --A juv LITTLE GULL was reported by Mlodinow at Union Reservoir on December 1 and later Wild reported an ad LITTLE GULL at Union. The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, December 3 will be to Cherry Creek State Park led by Mary Cay Burger, (303-771-3431). Meet at 0830 at the EAST GATE of Cherry Creek SP which is a right hand turn off Parker Road, just south of I-225. Must have state parks pass and "water" sticker to enter. Bird until noon or 1 pm. Lunch optional. The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, December 4 will be to Barr Lake SP - North Side led by Chuck Hundertmark (303-604-0521). Meet the leader at 0830 in parking lot at the south end of Lark Bunting Lane. (Note: This is not the usual Barr Lake SP meeting Place.) From Bromley Lane/E 152nd Ave, exit of I-76, drive east on E 152nd Ave, across the railroad tracks and take an immediate right onto Lark Bunting Lane. State Parks pass or admission fee required. Will bird the area around RMBO's headquarters and the fields and ditches below the Barr Lake dam. Bring water, snacks, and binoculars. Scopes optional. Half day trip.
