At West Florida Avenue and South Platte River Drive A short distance
(100 yards) upstream from the water shack on the West side within a
large group (350+) of Canadians I observed a single immature Tundra
Swan. I spotted the Swan from my vehicle when turning South on Platte
River Drive. I pulled off in a dangerous location, grabbed the binocs,
ran across the road and observed for about 5 Minutes. I had to move
the vehicle, I pulled off a short distance ahead, jogged back and to
my dismay, disbelief, disappointment I could not relocate the Swan,
maybe 6 minutes had passed. On a different subject at Belmar Park,
Jefferson County November 30th I observed an American Bittern in the
small pond to the North. I observed the bird for about an hour and
had five other observers join for the second hour, I did not have a
camera but the others took many photos.
