Boulder County:
--Lapland Longspurs were reported by Kaemfper feeding in bare winter
wheat furrows along Lookout Road between 1/4 and 1/2 mile east of 95th
St with a large flock of Horned Larks on December 3.
--At McIntosh Lake in Longmont on December 3, Komar reported 2
Thayer's Gulls (1 ad, 1 3-rd cyc) and an imm Long-tailed Duck.

Broomfield County:
--At the pond S of CO 7 and east of Lowell at Anthem, Plage reported 1
2-nd cyc Glaucous Gull and 1 ad Lesser Black-backed Gull on December
7.

Delta County:
--2 TUNDRA SWANS were reported by Garrison at Confluence Park in Delta
on December 3.

Denver County:
--A female type Long-Tailed Duck was reported by Wuerthele at Duck
Lake in City Park on November 22 and was relocated by O'Brien on December 6.
-A White-throated Sparrow was reported by Evans visiting her backyard
in Denver for 3 weeks on November 30. Kibbe refound the sparrow on
December 3.   Birders are welcome to try to see the bird.  The address
is  1480 S. Jasmine Way.  Walk through the breezeway to the patio.
Please  stay on the patio and look under trees in back.  It has been
associating with Juncos.

Douglas/Jefferson Counties:
--At Chatfield State Park:
--A POMARINE JAEGER (Juv. intermediate morph) was reported by Kellner
on November 19 and was refound on December 4 by Schmoker. The bird
has mostly been seen from the Handicapped Fisherman’s access point
just NW of the marina. It has also been seen from the Heron Overlook.
--A Glaucous Gull was reported by Kellner on November 19, 2 1st-cyc
Glaucous Gull were reported by Kellner on November 26.  On November
28, Mlodinow reported 1ad Glaucous Gull and 1 1-st cycl Glaucous Gull
and 1 juv Thayer's Gull.  A 2nd-cyc Glaucous Gull was reported by
Komar on November 30.  On December 4, 1 1-st cyc Glaucous Gull and 1
1-st cyc Lesser Black-backed Gull were reported by Huffstater at
Chatfield SP.
--2 "pale-bellied" BRANT were reported by Komar at Chatfield in the SW
corner on November 30.   On December 4, Stuart reported that the BRANT
were on Plum Creek about 100m N of bridge that crosses the creek near
SE corner of
picnic area parking lot.
--2 male winter Lapland Longspurs were reported by Bob Spencer at
Chatfield SP by the model airplane field on December 3 and were seen
again by Lawrence on December 4.

El Paso County:
--Pals reported that a Common Redpoll has been coming to his feeder in
Colorado Springs on December 6 and 7.  If you want to try to see it please
call Ken Pals at 719-471-0687.

Huerfano County:
--All three species of Rosy-Finches have returned to the yard of
Beverly Jensen in La Veta on December 1.  She says that it is best
after fresh snow.  Contact her at [email protected] for more
information.

Jefferson County:
--Pasquariello reported that the GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW continues at Red
Rocks Trading Post at least through December 6.
--At Bear Creek Lake Park, Henwood reported 2 Harris's Sparrows (1 ad,
1 1-st yr) on December 5.

Larimer County:
--An ad basic RED-THROATED LOON was reported by Leatherman at Rawhide Power
Plant on December 2 and 3.  Mammoser relocated the loon on December 4.
--A (juv) TRUMPETER SWAN was reported by Bol and Leatherman at Dixon
Reservoir on November 19.  It has moved and was last reported on
December 5 by Komar two miles north on College Lake.  Unfortunately,
there is restricted access to this lake.

Pueblo County:
--On December 2 at Valco Ponds, Percival reported 2 Swamp Sparrows and
10 Rusty Blackbirds.  Later on December 2, Duane Nelson reported 14
Rusty Blackbirds along the Arkansas River.
--On December 4, Percival reported 1 ad GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL at
south shore marina of Pueblo Reservoir.
--On December 4, Walbek found a juv Harris's Sparrow at Valco Ponds.
--On December 6, at Rock Canyon Percival reported 4 Rusty Blackbirds
and a Black Phoebe on the Valco Pond side of the river.

Weld County:
--A juv LITTLE GULL was reported by Mlodinow at Union Reservoir on
December 1 and later Wild reported an ad LITTLE GULL at Union
Reservoir.  On December 4
around 10am the juv LITTLE GULL was reported by Prather as being on
the far west side of Union.
--A TUFTED DUCK was reported by Mlodinow at Firestone Ponds.    The
ponds are W of CR 9 3/4 at CR 24.5.  Take Hwy 119 towards Firestone.
Just past Home Depot, Turn on CR 9 3/4 and head N to concrete plant,
pond is just N of CR 24.5.  On December 6, Matthews re-found the
TUFTED DUCK in a pond south of where it was originally found, but the
duck flew.  Do not trespass at the gravel pit operation.
--1 TRUMPETER SWAN and 5 TUNDRA SWANS were reported by Kellner at
Frederick Recreational Area at CR 13 N of Grant St and Mlodinow
reported a Snow Bunting on December 4.
--A probable GYRFALCON was reported by Hopper in the Pawnee Grassland
in the vicinity of Murphy's Pasture on December 5.
--A Common Redpoll was reported by Leatherman at Norma's Grove on
December 6.  Norma's Grove is at CR 57 & CR 100.
--2 Rusty Blackbirds were reported by Kaempfer from the bridge over
St. Vrain on the frontage road just east of I-25 and N of CO 119.  The
blackbirds were refound by Leatherman on December 6.

The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, December 10 will be to the Wheat
Ridge Greenbelt led by Paul Slingsby (303-422-3728).  Please notify
the leader if you plan to attend.  Meet the leader at 0800 at Prospect
Park in Wheat Ridge.  Will bird along Clear Creek and visit Tabor
Lake.  May involve about 3 miles of walking.  Finish by 1300.  Lunch
with leader at a warm restaurant is optional.  From I-70, take exit
267.  Take Kipling south about 3/4 of a mile and turn right (west on
44th Ave).  Go one mile west.  Look for entrance to Prospect Park on
your left (south).  Park in the lot near Clear Creek.

The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, December 11 will be to Chatfield SP led
by Lee Farrell (303-932-7859).  Contact leader at
[email protected] to register ( limit 12 individuals).  Meet at
0800 at Platte Parking lot, located just SE of Kingfisher Bridge over
the South Platte River.  Must have State Parks pass or pay admission
fee.  A 3 - 4 hour hike along the east side of the South Platte River
to visit habitat to be lost or impacted under the currently proposed
Chatfield Reservoir Expansion.  Wear hiking boots, bring water and
snacks.
