On Dec. 10 I reported a dark-morph Ferruginous Hawk near C470 & Quincy Avenue Exit. The bird has been seen every day this week in the same area. Bob Shade saw it yesterday and took some photos (distant). I saw the bird again today with my binocs (didn't have a scope with me). After looking at the bird today and looking at Bob's photos, I'm leaning toward a dark-morph Rough-legged. However, Michael K., Bob S., and myself don't all agree on the identity of this dark buteo and none of us is willing to "bet the house" on our ID.

Hope others that get a chance to see this dark- morph hawk and hopefully photograph the bird will weigh in so we can come up with a positive ID. The bird seems to perch regularly on the light poles on either side of C470 between the Quincy Exit and north to Home Depot.
