Folks, The Bonny CBC was conducted Friday in unusually mild weather. 76 species were tallied including a couple of new ones. A Carolina Wren was found near Foster's Grove campground and 3 Field Sparrows were counted for the first time. Other highlights include a cooperative Northern Saw-Whet Owl, 7 Mountain Bluebirds, a Yellow-rumped Warbler, Savannah, Lincoln, and Harris's Sparrows, a possible Eastern X Spotted Towhee, a Purple Finch and a Common Redpoll. Possibly the biggest surprise was the absence of Long-eared Owls. This in a CBC circle which has had the highest number of Long-eared Owls in the country in previous years. As always, the food and company were great! 'Thank You' to all of the participants.
