The Pueblo CBC was held today. A fresh 8 inches of snow last night, and icy and snowy roads made for low turnout of people (six people total). It looks like 71 species of birds and 7770 total birds were counted (last year a record 108 species were found). These totals from today may change a little, after the participants look over the list and make sure I didn't forget anything. Some of the more rarer birds found were: 1 Greater Scaup, 1 Spotted Sandpiper, 1 Yellow-headed Blackbird, and 25 Great-tailed Grackles. One important private property area wasn't covered today, which probably would have added several species and total birds. Hopefully we won't get a blizzard the day before the count, next year. Thanks to the brave souls who ventured out today for the count. Brandon Percival Pueblo West, CO
