Hello, Birders.

I visited Waneka Lake, Boulder County, late this windy afternoon, Thursday,
Dec. 29th, 2011, when, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a Tundra
Swan and a Trumpeter Swan, both adults. The birds flew in from the west, put
down in a little patch of open water on the lake, hung out there for about 15
minutes, then flew away again to the west. Felicitously, a group of visiting
birders from out-of-state were on hand to see the birds, and they told me I'd
just missed a few extra swans; I'm not sure how many.

By the way, the mysterious black goose (http://tinyurl.com/bl8x8x8) has not
returned to Waneka Lake. It was a one-day wonder, I guess. And speaking of
wonder, I still wonder what it was.
