Steve just phoned me to report a first year GW GULL. It was on an ice shelf
in an inlet on the southwest
side of the reservoir. The site
is favorably sheltered from the gale force winds. The site is as described
by Glenn
Walbek, who posted a map to Cobirds on 12/28. In other words, the gull is
near
where the Snowy Owl was seen on 12/28.
EITHER go in the south entrance to the reservoir
and walk 15-20 minutes north to where you can see the inlet
OR buy a pass and scan the boat launch area near all the buildings
inside the reservoir on the SW side. Harriers flushed the gulls,
so they could be ANYPLACE on the Reservoir.
He got borderline photos he told me.

You might be able to scope a lot of the lake from the southshore
neighborhood.
Good luck,
Joe Roller,
denver
