Hello, Birders.

Marcel Such and Joel Such and I birded around northwestern Boulder County this
morning, Sunday, Jan. 1st. Our highlights:

* At Pella Crossing, 1 Eastern Screech-Owl, 1 Wilson's Snipe, 2 Myrtle
Warblers, and 3 Harris's Sparrows. The Harris's Sparrows and Myrtle Warblers
were all together, immediately south of the Hygiene feed store.

* At Allenspark, 1 Hepburn's Rosy-Finch, 1 Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch, and 12
Evening Grosbeaks.

* At a feeder near the Olive Ridge Campground, just outside Wild Basin, Rocky
Mountain National Park, 1 adult male Pine Grosbeak.

* At a private residence on the Larimer-Boulder County line, a small stakeout
flock of heard-only Pinyon Jays. One or two birds' vocalizations were emanating
from safely within the friendly confines of blessed Boulder County.

We had a great encounter, too, with a herd of bighorn sheep, trying to lick the
yellow line off U.S. 36.
