The 3 Long-tailed Ducks reported on the Rawhide CBC this past Christmas Eve (by Doug Kibbe?) are still present this afternoon (4Jan12) on Hamilton Reservoir (the power plant's water source). They were basically on the north side of the res roughly on a line from the south shore observation area looking due north to the main tall smokestack. Hamilton Res is a few miles west of the Buckeye Exit on I-25 almost to the Wyoming line north of Fort Collins.
Other birds of interest were Horned Grebe (4), Western Grebe (1), Ruddy Duck (several), zillions of Mallards, and 1 apparently pure JUSTA race Herring Gull (not a probable hybrid, sorry).
