Tom Wilberding, Todd Deininger and I must have been trailing Peter Gent and the
Steve Mlodinow/Christian Nunes parties around today as we saw much the same
birds. But we can add a few other treats to illuminate our 62 species day:
Upper Church Ranch Lake in Jefferson County
1-1st cycle Thayer's Gull
Denver City Park
1-Long-tailed Duck
1-unusual Redhead-type duck. It had a male Redhead's head and
bill but a warm rusty brown body with no hint of black chest or rump
(well it is the Zoo after all)
S. Platte River south from 88th St. (Always pleasingly birdy)
Very large number of Buffleheads (75+)
Ruddy Ducks (10 or so)
East of Barr Lake and Anthem Ponds-see previous ponds, although by the time we
ran my Anthem there were slightly fewer goodies.
Valmont Reservoirs
1-Tundra Swan
Bill Kaempfer
Boulder
