In overcast skies with cool temperatures today, about 17 birders had a no-show of the Greater Roadrunner . I think that Joe Roller might agree that 1. Cold, 2. Wind, 3. Snow, and 4. Overcast conditions may all be suboptimal for seeing this bird. So, if you are on the lookout, consider warmer sunny days as perhaps your best option. By the way, on the trip yesterday, the bird was not perturbed by buses on the road, bikers with loose dogs on the trail, runners, hikers, or odd humans with binoculars and cameras.
