I only birded only a little today as my sciatica was aggravated from the
drive back from my extended trip to deep So Texas but I did find a small
flock of 4-5 Eastern Bluebirds in Florence River Park on the east end of
Florence. There was also a Say's Phoebe in that area.

I refound 12 Greater White-fronted Geese that I found a few months ago.
They were in the ponds behind houses on the east side in the 1500 block of
Willow Street. I also saw an unusually high number of Common Goldeneye in
ponds around Canon City plus one female Canvasback. An adult Bald Eagle
eyed the goldeneyes from a perch near one of the ponds.

If you haven't seen the video of the Hooded Crow, a Eurasian species,
sliding down a snowy roof on a jar lid I have posted it on my Birds and
Blooms magazine blog @
http://birdsandbloomsblog.com/2012/01/15/video-of-a-crow-snowboarding-down-a-snowy-roof/.
As the crow is seen taking the jar lid back up to effectively
snowboard
again, and without other apparent benefit to the bird, I don't think it is
anthropomorphizing to say it appears to be doing this to have fun--if
someone has a different explanation I would love to know it.
