I went back today around 3:30 and got closer to the hawk. I really can't
believe that this is the same bird I saw this morning!
He actually put his leg out to show me that he is not a RLHA! It is a
Harlan's hawk instead.
Thanks to everyone that helped me figure it out, it was very informative!

Subject: [cobirds] Dark Morph Rough-legged Hawk Centennial, CO Arapahoe
Hello,
I have been seeing a dark hawk for the less than a month at Dry Creek and
Coloradol, this is the first week that I have been able to stop and look.
There is a Comcast building on the south east side of the interesection. I
have seen the bird on the light pole to the west of Comcast and also in the
trees in the field to the east. I have also seen the bird (this morning) from
the Lifetime Gym parking lot looking west. The gym is at Eudora and Dry Creek.
I have seen him mostly when I am driving to/from work so the times have been
7-7:30am and 4-5pm. Of course each time the sun is either in my eyes or it is
getting dark. I saw him last Friday at 4:30pm, Monday at 5pm, yesterday and
today at 7:30am. I got some better pictures this morning. But, I hope that
someone with a better camera can get some pics of this bird.
I first saw the profile of the bird- smaller head and short tail. The second
time it flew away from me - very dark bird, white tail/no red streaking with
black band on tips of tail. The head/beak is small. Thanks to Anne Price
for looking at my poor pics!
I have pictures if you want to look at them.
