Today, a very large, mature Bald Eagle was fishing on Highland Lake - rather
successfully, I might add. It was perched in the trees near the gate to the
outlet ditch. Later this afternoon, I was able to photograph a juvenile Bald
Eagle perched on the power pole near the edge of our west yard. It was
definitely less interested in fishing, than it was in my chickens moving about
my yard. Chickens are safe, and Eagle moved over to the north shore area of the
lake.

Just a note, that while Highland Lake is privately owned, it is open to the
public. Even during the height of the fishing and boating season, there is no
charge to walk around the lake and take in the scenery.
