I have followed the pair of Eastern Bluebirds I found nesting on my
friend's farm near Canon City last week. They are very busy bringing some
very fat caterpillars and other juicy insects to feed their growing
nestlings. I decided not to take any chances of approaching the nest hole
and trying to look inside to reduce risk from the many racoons in that area
but I am seeing the babies' bills opening then the parents come with food.
I got a very good quality video clip of both the male and the female flying
in to feed the babies and remove the fecal sacs. The sunlight hitting
their blue feathers is very nice. I just posted the video and more photos
on my Birds and Nature blog <http://BirdsAndNature.blogspot.com>

Also confirmed that .Lewis's Woodpeckers are nesting in a cottonwood tree
only a few hundred feet from the Eastern Bluebirds. They nested in that
same tree for the last few years. The American Kestral I observed mating
last week may also be nesting in that same tree as both the kestrals have
been displaying there as have the Lewis's while both in the tree. And the
male kestral dive bombed the female Lewis's last night as she was just
outside the nest hole--she moved quickly inside. Photos of them later
