I am fully in agreement with the latest responses regarding posting of migrants
and non-rarities (But in truth, I always seem to agree with Ted Floyd. Why?
Because he believes in the community and the energy that birding has the
potential to create, demonstrated beautifully through the Sandhill Crane
conversation that occurred several years ago on Cobirds). I travel a lot. I
may be out-of-town, but I still follow the news on the block about what's
happening with bird activity here. I get a sense of where I might go birding
when I'm limited in the time I have to bird. It helps create the context for
the world of birds we're observing in our neighborhood, region, and state. If
people don't want to read about yet another Yellow-rumped Warbler, skip the
post. I'm into birds, and that happens to incude rarities.

With that said, I saw a very mottled Lazuli Bunting male skulking in shrubs on
the Mt. Sanitas trail today. Nothing else was active at all. It's probably
not a bird I would have posted generally, but goodness, this conversation made
me determined to post this evening.
