While censusing waterfowl at Walden Ponds today, which feels quite silly this
time of year, there was a FOS Warbling Vireo, Yellow Warbler, and Spotted
Sandpiper. By Cottonwood was 1 Great-tailed Grackle and an American Bittern
calling by the boardwalk (can't get out on the boardwalk because they are still
rebuilding it, the most protracted reconstruction in the history of Boulder
County, I believe). There was 1, yes, just 1 White-faced Ibis, 6 Am White
Pelicans with 4 Double-crested Cormorants swimming symbiotically with them. Had
1 Solitary Sandpiper at Weiser Pond. Several nights ago in the reeds of 1 of
the back Sawhill Ponds, I saw and heard a male Virginia Rail and the female was
calling just below it.
