Greetings All,
Sorry for the late post: spent the entire afternoon and evening upgrading from dumb-phone (died after 15 years; the funeral was quite touching) to smart phone. Though the I Phone (so far) has been surprisingly easy to grasp, it is really a small computer, so there is much to be done to set it up. Enough whining. Well, not quite. Golden Ponds and other such lowland localities have sucked, mostly. Methinks it's been because of our fair weather, so we shall see what this weekend will bring. A walk at Apple Valley, through habitat more likely to hold birds, was quite lovely, however. I birded mostly along the first L turn onto Apple Valley Road (as one heads from Lyons to Estes). Among numerous catbirds, my first chat of the spring, etc there was a male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, a singing (and thus presumably male) NASHVILLE WARBLER, and a male BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD (not at a feeder).
