Chico Basin Ranch (fee area) on 5/16: El Paso County: Nancy Gobris and Steve Brown banded a molting male Summer Tanager and a fourth Veery. Maynard saw a male Indigo Bunting, and a Gray Flycatcher was seen pumping its tail downward in the banding area as well.
Pueblo County: John Drummond found a singing male Baltimore Oriole at the Headquarters, it was seen later by Maynard, Percival, and others from Denver Audubon Group. This is quite a rare bird in Pueblo County! Also, we all saw and or heard a Northern Waterthrush at the Headquarters as well. John found a Gray-cheeked Thrush at Rose Pond. Quite a good day at the Ranch. The Yellow-throated Vireo was a second Ranch Sighting, I believe, and Yellow-throated Warbler, Baltimore Oriole, and Gray-cheeked Thrush are quite unusual as well. Summer Tanager, four Veeries, an Indigo Bunting, and a Northern Waterthrush all nice ones too!
