Greetings All,

This morning at Black Bear Hollow, the park on the south side of Hwy 66 as you
enter Lyons, there was an EASTERN PHOEBE singing away near a bridge. I would
not be surprised if it is nesting. The exact spot is the bridge of McConnell, s
of Hwy 66.

Along Apple Valley Road, just s. of US 36, there was a singing YB CUCKOO and a
singing RB GROSBEAK (same spot where I had one about a month ago). I also found
a Common Merganser nest.

The NW corner of Union Reservoir had 2 White-rumped Sandpipers.

The Firestone Gravel Pits were golden again. The pond along Weld Co Rd 24 3/4,
just east of Weld Co Rd 9 3/4, had a pair of MEXICAN DUCKS... undoubtedly the
same pair that has been in the area for the last 2 months. As I tried to
digiscope them, they flew off to the north. I was unable to locate a pond where
they seemed to land. Also present here was a GREEN HERON and an imm male COMMON
GOLDENEYE.

Good Birding
