This morning, there were 8 Wood Ducks on Weiser Pond, 7 males and 1 female. I will also comment again on Boulder County's bizarre prioritizing. The boardwalk rebuild, begun further back than my long-term memory goes, is still not complete. I think a few boards have been laid since I was there several weeks ago. However, at this point, the disruption of construction on nesting birds is obvious. Rather than having finished this project before beginning another, there is now a grated road/path around several of the ponds (rather than the very adequate path that was previously there), and several disrupted-by-large-machinery, grassy areas around the ponds.
