Hello, Birders. Just a quick reminder that the 2nd Great Boulder Caper, cosponsored by Denver Field Ornithologists and the American Birding Association, is a go for this coming Sunday, June 24th.
We have three goals for the outing: 100 species 100 degrees 100 orange slices Our main meeting times: 4:59:59 at the North Teller Farms parking lot (off Valmont Road); 8:00 at the Cottonwood Marsh parking lot (off 75th Street). Rough itinerary: oh-dark-thirty, Barn Owls, fireflies, Dick Cheney; then BRISK "walking" starting at 4:59:59; then leisurely birding at Cottonwood Marsh and the Walden/Sawhill complex; then lunch at the Pearl Street mall (Chimney Swifts, anyone?); then Gregory Canyon and heatstroke; then Flagstaff toward the Walker Burn area; then pygmy-owls; then Flamm; then saw-whet. Andrew and I scouted Teller the other night, by the way. We found 1 Barn Owl (my count) and 703 fireflies (Andrew's count). Am not totally clear on Andrew's survey methodology, but, for sure, there were many, many fireflies out there. Anyhow, get all details on the Caper here: http://tinyurl.com/759chbh Let's caper on Sunday!
