Greetings All,

So, listening to Joey Kellner's advice, I headed NE today.

I started the day by wasting time trying to access Centennial Valley SWA e. of
Greeley. It was very frustrating, as the habitat along the S Platte here looked
fabulous, and I could hear much bird song. However... the sign at the parking
lot says "No access Mar-Oct, except during turkey hunting season." The state
website says that the area is open to the public at large during the
non-hunting season. Put the two together, and this SWA is for hunter's only.

Okay, now that I've had a good kvetch....

Along the S Platte, near Orchard, I heard a rather typical sounding western
Warbling Vireo. Do with that piece of info what you will. All the other WAVIs
today sounded like eastern birds.

At Andrick Ponds SWA, I found 20+ Snowy Egrets, 10+ BC Night Herons, 10+ GB
Herons, 2 American Bitterns, and 2 Great Egrets. This is a fascinating spot (or
set of spots, mostly viewable from roads south and west of Jackson Lake State
Park).

On the n. side of Jackson Lake (or Reservoir, your choice) there were the
following shorebirds:
29 Killdeer
53 Mountain Plover
10 American Avocet
2 Spotted Sandpipers
2 Solitary Sandpipers
1 Marbled Godwit
2 Semipalmated Sandpipers
2 Western Sandpipers
3 Least Sandpipers
36 Baird's Sandpipers
2 Wilson's Phalaropes

The lake wasn't terribly interesting, though there were about 100 Franklin's
Gulls about and a few Forster's Terns and one Black Tern

At Prewitt Reservoir, the shorebird totals were:
51 Killdeer
1 American Avocet
4 Spotted Sandpipers
3 Solitary Sandpipers
18 Greater Yellowlegs
8 Willets
49 Lesser Yellowlegs
3 Marbled Godwits
4 Western Sandpipers
3 Semipalmated Sandpipers
11 Least Sandpipers
230 Baird's Sandpipers
14 Stilt Sandpipers
1 Long-billed Dowitcher
6 Wilson's Phalaropes

Walking the inlet yielded a Baltimore x Bullock's hybrid (male), a singing
Lazuli Bunting, 3 Yellow-billed Cuckoos, and most interestingly: a pair of
Red-eyed Vireos (yes, male and female), with male singing, and both responding
very aggressively to pishing!!

Good Birding
