Hello, Birders.

Right now, this very instant, at 3:24 in the morning, a Barn Owl is hunting the
mean streets of Lafayette, Colorado. I absolutely love the sound of a Barn Owl
on the wing, almost as glorious as the nocturnal flight calls of the Chipping
Sparrow and the Upland Sandpiper. Speaking of which, I have heard neither this
morning, and with a light southerly breeze, I suppose shouldn't get too
excited. But any "day" (er, night) now! We're in the 2nd half of July now,
which, here in Colorado, means it's time to start listening for "fall"
nocturnal migrants.

It's the greatest time of the year!
