Urling and I enjoyed a morning in the Devils Head Atlas block and achieved a triumph: an Ovenbird carrying food (CF, a confirmation of breeding). The fussing bird chipped like a junco and circled us about 10 times, all the time lugging a very fat grub in its bill. We also counted fledglings (FL, also confirmation) for 15 species. Quite an amazing morning considering that we hiked no more than a mile or so.
You can still go out into your blocks and find intriguing behavior, and sometimes a surprising bird or two.
