Hello, Birders. There was a nice nocturnal migration of Chipping Sparrows over Lafayette, Boulder County, earlier this morning, Tuesday, July 31st. I listened from 3:00 a.m. until the beginning of astronomical dawn at 4:10 a.m. During that 70-minute period, I heard 44 Chipping Sparrow flight calls. The birds went over slow but steady, in dribs and drabs, the whole time I was out there. Skies were cloudy, winds were calm, and the cloud ceiling was low.
