Birding was slow this morning with only a Wilson's and Yellow Warblers until I spotted this Chestnut-sided Warbler, a female in 1st winter plumage on my friend's property near Canon City. I got a series of photos of her that show all the field marks for this species and I have uploaded them to my Birds and Nature blog <http://BirdsAndNature.blogspot.com>
I had a Black Phoebe at my friend's place today and another one several miles away on the Canon City Riverwalk between the Sell's Lake and Raynold's Ave trailheads. While working in my yard (less than 500 feet from the edge of the greenway bordering the riverwalk) several warblers worked their way through trees in my neightbors' and my yard. These are the first of fall warblers I have had and they came in not long after a small light rain came in (coincidence or did they come in with or just ahead of it?). The only one I could ID (I don't always have my binoculars on, though they were near by) was a Wilson's Warbler. I really pay attention to these migrating warblers in my yard because I had a Prothonotary Warbler near this time last year.
