Migrating landbirds were few and far between this morning so I drove out to Brush Hollow SWA. The lake is exceptionally low but I did see an Eared Grebe and a few common ducks there. As I was about to leave a flock of about 25 White-throated Swifts flew in (over the reservoir) apparently to do some feeding during their migration. Then I spotted a hawk high and far away with white tail bands. It flew a little closer and I was able to see it was a Broad-tailed Hawk, my first this season. I did get a reasonable photo that I have uploaded to my Birds and Nature blog<http://BirdsAndNature.blogspot.com> .
I also have seen several dozen Yellow-headed Blackbirds in Florence, the most I have seen all year in the Canon City area. I have two photos of these birds also on my blog.
