Hello, Birders.

In the U.K., they call it vismig, cutsie Brit shorthand for "visible
migration." Anyhow, I got me some yesterday morning, Sat., Sept. 22nd, at
Walden Ponds, Boulder County:

1. A steady flight of high-flying, generally southbound Audubon's Warblers;

2. An immature Red-headed Woodpecker that flew in from the east, landed on a
snag, and then kept going; and

3. Two fairly low Chestnut-collared Longspurs (thought they would land, no such
luck) over Cottonwood Marsh, just rattlin' along.

Meanwhile, migrants "on the ground" were slow, slow, slow. Gambel's
White-crowned Sparrows are back in droves, but, otherwise, just some dribs and
drabs: a few Greater Yellowlegs and Snowy Egrets; a Wilson's Warbler here, a
Western Wood-Pewee there; scattered Lincoln's and Vesper Sparrows; stuff like
that... Nice morning.
