This was the weirdest morning of the season: Started cloudy but not cold,
then wind and drizzles (opened, closed, then reopened all nets), then just
overcast eventually becoming partly sunny. Only banded 20 birds, but those
20 included a Tennessee Warbler (2nd of season) and a BAY-BREASTED WARBLER
side-by-side in the net. The BBWA appears to be a first ever for the Barr
Banding Station. We spent a lot of time making sure about the species, but
luckily for us this HY bird had sufficient chestnut/rufous on his flanks to
rule out other options. Later, we caught our FOS (and first since 2009)
Golden-crowned Kinglet. We ended with 15 species:

Downy Woodpecker 1

Blue Jay 1

Black-capped Chickadee 1

Golden-crowned Kinglet 1

Hermit Thrush 2

Orange-crowned Warbler 2 (For those who noticed - and corrected -
my error yesterday, today I think I got the "something-crowned" birds
right!)

Tennessee Warbler 1

Bay-breasted Warbler 1

Wilson's Warbler 2

Green-tailed Towhee 1

Song Sparrow 1

Lincoln's Sparrow 2

Gambel's White-crowned Sparrow 2

Dark-eyed Junco, Oregon 1

House Sparrow 1 (We had this brief interlude with NO birds and school kids
arriving, so we opened the nets at the Nature Center long enough to catch
this guy)

Closed Wednesday this week; otherwise open daily, weather permitting. Some
possibility of rain coming up..but maybe more interesting species as well!
